New Year's reception for the diplomatic corps

2024-01-11

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the Danish Parliament hosted its annual New Year's reception for the diplomatic corps.

In his welcome speech, the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade, emphasized that we find ourselves in an increasingly globalized world. Therefore, the importance of developing and strengthening the dialogue between the members of the Danish Parliament and the diplomatic corps is continuously growing.

The Speaker also turned to the year ahead of us: »I am convinced that 2024 will be another year of challenges. Some we know already, and others are yet to be seen. Therefore, in this new and ever-changing security environment, it is even more important to maintain strong diplomatic and international commitments.«

After the Speaker's welcome speech, the Argentine Ambassador, Conrado Solari-Yrigoyen, who is the longest serving foreign ambassador in Denmark, delivered a speech on behalf of the diplomatic corps.
