About the All Party Parliamentary Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights

The SRHR Network (All Party Parliamentary Network for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) is a network consisting of more than 60 members of the Danish Parliament. The network promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights both nationally and internationally.

The SRHR Network was established in 2006 as a cross-party forum to discuss questions about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across the political parties of Parliament.

The network differs from the parliamentary committees, as it is a broadly based forum, where all members of the Parliament can participate. The network does not have the same parliamentary tools available as the committees, which for instance means that it is not possible to ask questions to ministers.

The SRHR Network is a forum for a broad and inclusive debate about sexual and reproductive health and rights. The network cooperates with the government, international organisations, civil society, the business community and other relevant stakeholders.

The tasks of the network

  • To facilitate cross-party cooperation and awareness-raising on SRHR agendas in the Danish Parliament, the Nordic Council, the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and similar fora.
  • To promote knowledge, understanding and acceptance of SRHR through participation in different events, hearings, conferences etc.

The Danish Family Planning Association

The Danish Family Planning Association (Sex & Samfund) previously served as the secretariat for the SRHR Network. Today, the association acts as a permanent external advisor. The SRHR Network invites the association to participate in meetings and activities as well as to provide inputs about relevant topics to support the work of the network.

Secretariat services

In November 2019, the Presidium of the Danish Parliament decided that the SRHR Network should have access to secretariat services from the Administration of the Danish Parliament.

The decision was based on the network’s unique character and agenda. The SRHR Network thus enjoys broad support across the Parliament’s political parties and deals with topics that run across several committees of the Parliament.
