About the All Party Parliamentary Network for the 2030 Agenda

The Danish Parliament (Folketinget) is actively taking part in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Denmark. The 2030 Network was created in 2017. It is an all-party parliamentary group whose members represent all parties in the Danish Parliament. Currently, the network includes almost half of the 179 Members of Parliament. The opposition chairs the 2030 Network and the governing party is vice-chair.

The purpose of the network is to promote the SDGs, by e.g. sharing knowledge and debating relevant themes regarding the implementation of the SDGs in Denmark as well as to exercise parliamentary scrutiny. However, the network does not possess the same parliamentary tools and instruments as a parliamentary committee. For example, the network cannot table questions to ministers or request an oral or written response.

The 2030 Network has established an advisory board called the ‘2030 Panel’ with representatives from civil society, NGOs, organisations, the business community, academia, etc. The panel is a cross-sectoral platform that engages a variety of stakeholders in Danish society and advises the network on implementing the SDGs. The network and panel are in regular dialogue to ensure that discussions in the network are up-to-date and informed.

Examples of how the Danish Parliament is working with the SDGs

A catalogue of ideas on how to work with the SDGs in Parliament

  • A catalogue of ideas on how to work with the SDGs in Parliament has been developed. Members of the working group and the 2030 Network presented the catalogue to other Members of Parliament to help them integrate the SDGs into the daily work of the Parliament.
