Every year, the Danish Parliament celebrates Citizenship Day. All the people who received Danish citizenship the past year are invited to a joyful day with speeches, entertainment and music. This year the Citizenship Day is on Sunday 22 April.

The Danish Parliament has introduced a new tool for direct democracy called ‘citizen’s initiative’. The new initiative enables Danish citizens to put an item of interest on the parliamentary agenda, if 50.000 people support it.

On Monday 29 January 179 teenagers from all across Denmark came to the Danish Parliament to participate in the 10th version of the Youth Parliament (UP18). They experienced how it feels to be a politician and how it is like to debate political issues. The students were very enthusiastic and demonstrated the ability to engage in political discussions.

The Danish Parliament will open its doors to visitors as part of Copenhagen' Night of Culture (Kulturnatten) festival. "Kulturnatten" is an annual event, during which cultural institutions and other organizations in Copenhagen welcome visitors and offer many different kinds of activities.

With the backing of all parliamentary parties, Parliament’s Speaker Pia Kjærsgaard (Danish People’s Party), took the initiative to award Finn Nørgaard and Dan Uzan official recognition in the form of a bravery award for their valour during the events at Krudttønden and the Synagogue in Copenhagen on 14/15 February 2015. The new award is called ‘Folketingets Hæderspris’.
