The Presidium of the Danish Parliament visited Washington

The Presidium of the Danish Parliament visited Washington from 18 to 21 June to meet with the supreme political leadership of the United States Congress, among other things

During their visit in Washington, the Presidium met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Boehner, and the leading democratic Member of Congress, Steny Hoyer, who has made a great effort for Danish-American cooperation over the years.

The topics of discussion of the meetings were the political and economic situation in Europe, USA’s role as an economic engine of growth, the upcoming American presidential election and the relations between Europe and the USA.

 
The Presidium met with Steny Hoyer. Both sides expressed great pleasure  with the close relations.

At the recognized Johns Hopkins University, the Presidium also participated in a round table discussion about the economic crisis.


At the Johns Hopkins University, the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Mogens Lykketoft, gave a presentation on the economic crisis. 

Apart from politicians, a number of researchers and economists participated in the meeting where the global economic crisis was discussed.

The Presidium also met a large number of politicians, advisers, economists and think tanks where the topics of discussion of the meetings were European politics from an American perspective, the economic crisis, international development of democracy, the American election campaign and the relations between the USA and China.
