The Constitutional Act, which constitutes the framework for the political system in Denmark, does not mention political parties. Yet they play a central role in politics. This fact sheet contains information on how the first political parties were established in 1870 and on developments up to our day. It is part of a series of information sheets that contain facts and figures on the Danish Parliament, Christiansborg Palace, the political parties, general elections, referendums and the EU.
